George Wang

George is a Shanghai-based international basketball digital creator and the founder of China Hoops, a platform built to connect Chinese basketball with the global game.

He launched China Hoops after the 2023 FIBA World Cup, feeling Chinese basketball needed a stronger international voice and a better bridge to the rest of the basketball world. Over the past three years, he has grown the platform from zero into a respected basketball media channel covering CBA import players, Chinese local players, young prospects, and the international basketball pathway.

George's work is focused on connection.

Vision & Mission

For overseas fans, China Hoops provides a window into the CBA and the opportunities available in Chinese professional basketball. For Chinese players and families, the platform provides a window into the larger basketball world, including the possibility of studying, training, and competing abroad.

His next goal is to establish a U.S. presence so China Hoops can cover Chinese basketball stories in America more directly. That includes Chinese players competing in the NCAA, Chinese prospects pursuing U.S. school opportunities, Chinese-American basketball stories, NBA and WNBA connections, and the broader pathway between China and the United States.

George believes the U.S. is where many of these stories need to be documented in real time. By covering games, campuses, coaches, players, camps, and training environments in person, he can give Chinese audiences a more trusted and accurate view of the opportunities that exist in American basketball.

His long-term vision is to use China Hoops to open more windows for young players from China, especially those from villages and smaller cities who may not otherwise be seen. He hopes to build camps, connect coaches, document pathways, and help the next generation understand that basketball can create opportunities beyond their hometown.

George built China Hoops because he knows what it means to come from a small village with a big dream! His mission is to use basketball media to help Chinese players, overseas players, and global basketball communities see each other more clearly.
